Triskaidekaphobia

Signature Room & Poker Room

There's been mixed feelings on playing at Table 13 on this Friday the 13th.

"I was excited," says Lee Childs, who was a late arrival to Table 13 in the $1k. Unfortunately Childs is on the rail and now playing the $350.

Childs leaves behind a quiet group that includes Bill Blanda and Matt Matros.  "Wasn't a choice," says "Big Daddy" Blanda, when asked about the superstition of being at the table, but busts a few minutes later.

The fear of the number 13 is called Triskaidekaphobia and, for a group of players who are known to have superstitious tendencies and "favorite" hands, there isn't too much fear going around at Borgata.

Larry Gold, who's playing in the $350, says, "I guess I'll be afraid if someone flops a set of 13s." Then after a pause adds, "I don't even know what that means."

No fears and no problems, except for those who are no longer at Table 13.
