Eyzerovich Putting the "Bet" in Alphabet Soup

"I should've gone with my gut and just played this," laughs Nguyen.

Another Event 8 casualty joining the table is Joe Liberta (Berlin, NJ), who also has two Borgata Spring Open cashes, including a final table for a total of $2,500.

Also at the table are Shiraz Hasan (Middletown, DE) and Joe Gonzalez (Cleveland, OH).

    Blinds: 400/800, 75 antes

In a hand that extended into the break. Mike Dentale (bb) bet 10k on the river with a board of K T T 2 5 with three spades. Emmett Rutkowski (Culpeper, VA) (button) raised to 25k, covering Mike.

Mike tanked for a few minutes, then surrendered what he said was QT (trip Tens). Emmett made the courtesy show of A5 of spades (nut flush). He's up to about 170k.

Mike was left with about 15k.

    Blinds Up:  300/600, 75 antes

On a flop of 9 4 3, Eric Miller (bb) was all-in for 10,100 against two players.   One opted out, then the player in seat 9 (cutoff) made the call.

Eric held K9 suited for top pair.  His opponent had 43 off for two pair and the lead.  The turn was another 3 giving his opponent the full boat.  When a Queen came on the river, Eric was sunk and headed for the door.

    Michael Buttacavoli has also departed.

Now that the re-entry period is over, tables will start breaking down fast.  25 tables are currently in action.

    Event 8: Back From Break!

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Level six was done and players took off for a break (or to hit the re-entry window).

Play has resumed with level 7, blinds 250/500 with 50 antes.

No more re-entries now, so bust-outs will be permanent.

Event 8: Aces are Fool's Gold

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

    Blinds:  200/500, 50 ante

On a flop of 9 7 5 with one short-stack all-in, Larry Gold got all his chips in the middle against a third player.

     Larry Gold

Larry's pocket Aces were way ahead of pocket Jacks.

Then the last two came 8 T,  giving his opponent the back-door straight and the pot.

    Larry's back for another try.

    Event 8: Pilgrim Re-Enters, Re-Locates

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

    Blinds:  150/300, 25 ante

Dwyte Pilgrim has moved over to table 11 and I found out that he busted out and re-entered.

He's now sharing a very tough patch of felt with Jake 'Team Snake' Deutsch, Justin Sousa, Scott Wardell, & Jeremiah McKenna.

He's struggling at his new table, too.  I watched a hand go down during the previous level (blinds 100/200) where Dwyte (bb) faced off against the player on the button.

     Dwyte Pilgrim

On the river, the board read Q J T J 9 (both players checked the turn) and Dwyte checked again.  The button fired 5,100 and Dwyte tanked for a minute.  "You got a King?" he speculated.

He finally made the crying call, showing 98 off for the flopped Queen-high straight.  His opponent tabled KJ for the rivered King-high straight to take the pot.

    Event 8: Tough Table 18

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

    Blinds Up:  150/300, 25 ante

Event 8: Lemke Having a "Bad Day"

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Play resumed after the break with level 4, Blinds: 100/200.

Brian Lemke is now in his third seat of the day, seat 10 at table 7 (along with  Larry Gold & Roz Quarto).

When I saw that he had relocated, I asked what was going on.

The winner of the 2012 Borgata Spring Open kickoff event ($111,076) and owner of one WSOP bracelet described his day:

"First, I flopped the nut straight and got it in against a guy with a set" who of course filled up to bust Lemke.  One bullet gone.

"Then I semi-bluffed with the nut-flush-draw" and didn't get there.  Second bullet gone.

Now he's on his third bullet and said "It's OK, I got three more".  He's got more than that, but only three levels left to fire them as the re-entry period closes after the end of level six.

    Event 8: More Familiar Faces

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Tables 27 - 29 are up and running over in the Poker Room.

Currently in action over there are
    Matthew Piccolo
    John Zoldak

and I saw Paul 'the Truth' Darden (1 WSOP bracelet, 1 WPT title) at the registration window, just signing up.

    Back in the Signature Room:
    Mike Dentale
    Danny Yousefzadeh
    Leonardo Palermo

Level 3 is just coming to an end and players are getting a ten minute break.

Another player raised to 2,100 and Michael moved all in for ~25k.  The original raiser folded (claimed pocket Jacks) and the 3-bettor called.

Michael had pocket Kings.  His opponent had AK.  The Kings held up (a Jack hit the board) and Michael doubled to ~50k, sending the other player to the re-entry line.

Michael finished 5th in event 5 ($700 NLH) yesterday for $6,600.

    Event 8: Pilgrim Arrives

Event 8: Cards & Chips Fly

    $350 + $50 Deep Stack NLH (Re-Entry)

Today's first main event is another Deep Stack No Limit, which brings them out in droves.  Players love the 25k starting stacks.

This is also a re-entry event, which means anyone who manages to lose all 25k in the first six levels may chose to re-enter the tournament and start over with a fresh 25k stack.

Late entries are also allowed during the first 6 levels (until about 2:15pm).

Levels 1-10 are 30 minutes, then they increase to 40 minutes.

Level 1 blinds are 25/50.  Dealers have been told to "Shuffle Up & Deal!"
