Viking Bob Makes the Money
The first player to cash in the Borgata Spring Poker Open is Bob Haavind (Boston, MA) who returned with only 12 BB. Haavind is all in with pocket 6s, but is up against pocket jacks and when his opponent hits the higher straight (7 8 9 10 on board), his day is done.
"I went into mad Viking mode," says the retired editor/publisher on surviving the Day 1 bubble. "I'd move all in and everybody would fold."
Eliminations have been fast and furious as the Haavind and the 100 returning players are guaranteed at least $1,010 as they chase the Event 1 trophy and first place prize of $111,076.
