Arthur Mitchell (Pasadena, TX)
$550
Arthur Miller's 9th place finish is bittersweet as he entered the day third in chips, but with rising limits and big swings was a short stack with 14 players left. "Disappointed, but happy to cash," says Mitchell, who is also an avid Foosball player and one of the game's head referees. "The glass is half full or half empty, I'll say it's half full."
Mitchell was poised to get some breathing room shortly before his elimination, but Ron Schiffman split a pot with him on the river. Mitchell had the low locked up with 8 K A 2, but a 3 on the river gave Schiffman the high with a full house to trump Mitchell's two pairs.
The missed scoop for Mitchell cost him 20k and a chance to finish deeper in the money.
Mitchell, who finished 4th in this event in the 2010 Borgata Spring Poker Open ($3,000), says Omaha is his game of choice and this is the only event he'll be playing in the series.
Arthur Mitchell finishes in 9th place, earning $550.
