After 20 hours of poker, James Sloat wins the $200 Borgata Spring Poker Open Deep Stack event. The top six held strong until they quickly fell one by one, leaving the top three finishers, coincidentally all from the state of Maryland.

A key hand for Sloat came early in the tournament as he had the discipline to fold pocket nines pre-flop. In a bit of irony, the largest pot he scooped that shot him up amongst the chip leaders was a 4-bet shove with wired 99's. Of course they held up.

Tons of deepstackers were lined up for this extremely popular event. Players loved that they had the ability to re-enter unlimited times within the first eight levels. And with 920 total entries all starting the day with 25,000 chips, a total of 23,000,000 chips were in play.

Some familiar Borgata faces that cashed included Mike "Mad Dog" Shasho, Steve Ryan, Mickey Woll, Sungwoo Tae, James "Suits" Salters, Adam Lippert, and Ben Geller who finished in 18th Place earning $865. Everyone was gunning for the $151,708 prize pool.

Once again, congratulations to our big winner, James Sloat (Halethorpe, MD) who hit more than his share of boats to take out the final table, and take down the $34,132 1st Place prize.

End of the road for MJ Bernstein who loses to pocket sevens then the very next hand gets pocket 77's and loses again.

The one two punch busts Bernstein out in 12th Place for $1,820.

In hand one, Bernstein's K-Q falls to Frank Goguen's 7-7 on a board of 3-8-A-5-2.

In hand two, Bernstein has 7-7 and is up against Antoine White's 5-5.

White calls for a five on the flop and sure enough the dealer puts a five right in the window.

In the last hand before a ten minute break both Franks mixed it up in a hand.

Frank "The Bank" Rothgeb (Washington, DC) had A-10 and raised 250,000 against Frank Goguen (New Brunswick, Canada).

Goguen jammed just under a million on a flop of J-9-2 and Rothgeb called.

Goguen flipped over J-Q and top pair held up.

Rothgeb was up to 4,000,000 but drops to 3,000,000.

Goguen is up to 1,700,000.

Event 19: Haddon Done

Scott Haddon lost most of his chips after having his A-Q run into pocket QQ's on a board of 3-9-K-3-6.

A few hands later he woke up to A-K and was called by the small blind tabling 4-8.

Scott did not connect but his Opponent found two out of the three remaining fours in the deck.
